How to Stitch a Sieve, Strainer or Splatter Shield

It's time for October's Dollar Store Design Squad challenge and this month we all were challenged to create a fall or halloween theme craft with supplies from the dollar store.

My entry this month involves cross stitch and embroidery, of course!

Distressed Dollar Store Pumpkins with a Crackle Finish

Distress painted dollar store pumpkins
Day 3 of Dollar Store Pumpkin Week!  We’ve had rope and glitter and today is a simple distressed finish.  The same finish I’ve shared before.  Crackled with wood glue and then distressed with a glaze. Crackle painted
The drastic change for this project is really clear when you put the before and after side by side:

Easy No Sew Knit Sweater Pumpkins

Three little white sweater pumpkinsEasy No Sew Pumpkins from Old Sweater SleevesThis is a project I’ve seen all over Pinterest and I finally had to throw my hat in the ring and try making my own.  I have actually been holding on to the top half of this sweater for almost a year now.
I used the bottom half to make this pillow but I knew I could do something fun with the sleeves. And that is exactly what I did.

I love that witches can be scary and creepy or they can be funny and cutesy.  Witches are the perfect motif for Halloween. Check out these 15 counted cross stitch patterns all based on witches.. great for Halloween or all year long!

It may only be the end of August, but I already have fall on my mind!   So today I am crafting PUMPKINS!   Why? Because if fall had to choose a vegetable mascot, it would be the pumpkin!

These shimmery and glittery paper pumpkins feature two different types of materials.  Orange foil posterboard as well as copper shimmer paper.  Since the only thing better than pumpkins are GLITTERY pumpkins.

Plywood Candy Corn (Free Scroll or Jig Saw Pattern)

Make your own oversized candy corn out of plywood with either a scroll or jig saw. A super fast and easy project, and with so many uses!
It is always fun to get into the woodshop and create some super fast and easy seasonal projects.  For this upcoming halloween I was looking for a project idea that I could use in place of a regular old wreath on the front door.

These oversized plywood candy corn cutouts are a great project since the cut lines are so simple and you can make a whole bunch in no time.

You all know I have a new Facebook page just dedicated to crafts right?  If you don’t follow me there, you are SERIOUSLY missing out because I share the funniest and most sarcastic crafts I can find.

Well earlier this week I shared an image of this TOTES ADORBS tank top that had a crocheted collar that appeared to be made by a giant spider.  I LOVED IT.. and apparently all my Facebook followers did too, because that post has recached more than 200,000 people in the last 2 days.

If anyone knows the original owner of this image, I would love to give them credit. I found it on Pinterest.

Now my crochet skills are not nearly that good yet, I’m still stuck on more simple projects, but I can cut VINYL second to none.  And that is exactly what I did!  Spider lace collar on black tank top

Textured Photo Transfers on to Wood Blocks

Easy Photo Transfer with Textured Finish
This month’s power tool challenge was not only a building challenge, but it also was a gift exchange.  The members of the group were challenged to create a gift using power tools and mail it to another member of the group.

This month’s gift ideas were amazing!

DIY Cookbook Stand by Dogs Don't Eat Pizza + DIY Pallet Wood Shadow Box by Create And Babble

For my gift I decided to make some simple wooden plaque wall art.  Large scale prints on blocks and canvases are super hot right now and being able to personalize them makes them a perfect gift!
