Soccer Birthday Party (and Free Printables)

Throw a soccer themed birthday party.. Cake, goody bags and decor ideas.. Includes free printable files for Soccer Happy Birthday banners and water bottle wrappers
This weekend was my daughter's birthday party, and if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably figured out it was soccer themed.   We actually held it at an inflatable party place so there was a lot I didn't need or get to do, but I was still able to personalize it.

Keep in mind, this is the same child that got the DIY PVC soccer goal a few weeks ago...she is clearly soccer obsessed.  She really really wanted a soccer birthday party, and compared to last years "Princess Dinosaurs at the Spa" theme.. this was easy!
Of course I waited to the absolute last minute (2 days before) to get started with the planning.  I looked around locally and couldn't find a lot of soccer related birthday supplies, so I had to come up with my own.

First there was the cake. I went with the easiest design I could think of.. a round ball and I am pretty happy with how it came out:
The cake itself had two layers. Devil's food and plain white.  So even when you cut it open it stayed with the black and white theme.

The party place supplied pizza, but I had to bring my own water, so I whipped up some printable labels and taped them on the bottles to keep with the theme:
(I have provided a link to download the un-watermarked file at the end of this post)

At the party store I was able to find soccer ball paper plates and napkins along with a football tablecloth (that could pass for soccer.)  I also found some chocolates in the shape of soccer balls that I sprinkled on the table.
They actually do make soccer tablecloths, but they didn't carry them locally (and of course I was doing this all at the last minute)

I also wanted to create a birthday banner and so using the same motif as the water bottle, I made one out of pennants that spelled out "Happy Birthday":

To create it I printed it on cardstock.  (I could fit three pennants per page):

and cut out the triangles with a paper cutter (although you could use a scissors too).

I used a hole punch on the corners and ran them onto a piece of ribbon:

Finally, as a favor (instead of a goody bag) I bought each child their own full size soccer ball.

It was actually not super expensive, about $5/kid (for the balls I found at Walmart) which is about what the gift bags at the party place cost.  I personalized each ball with the guests name using vinyl I cut on my Silhouette.
The most important thing was that the birthday girl had a great time!
