Baby's Nautical Bedroom REVEAL!

The day has finally come to reveal the Nautical Nursery!  Everything is done! I still have a couple detailed tutorial posts on how I did a few things but for now, here is the room all pulled together and I can't wait one minute more to show it to you!

I LOVE how it came out.  I just sit in the rocking chair with the baby and look around the room to soak it all in.  And I can't believe I did it in under 5 weeks!

A fun panoramic from my iPhone!
The motivation to finally get it done was the the Calling it Home One Room Challenge.

Here is a closer breakdown of what I did exactly:

My red trimmed closet doors were inspired by Kate's.  The color is Burnt Peanut Red by Benjamin Moore. The walls are Newburyport Blue by Benjamin Moore with Martha Stewart's Glass of Milk (now by Glidden) below the chair rail. You see how I made my paint color choices here.

This corner is my favorite part of the room.  I got that little lobster pillow on clearance for $8 at Home Goods. The boat shelf, model boat and lantern are from my thrifting adventures. The frames are from Ikea. Other details include:

DIY Display Stands (coming soon):

I also love the opposite side of the room.  It was such a large expanse of wall I needed to break it up with a special paint treatment.

All the furniture and fixtures in the room were something I already had.  The crib was the only piece of furniture that remained untouched.  Everything else got a makeover.

I wanted to use a lot of wall art and nick-nacks that reinforced the "nautical" theme of the room.

The picture ledges and white frames are from Ikea.  The letter J was from Home Goods.  Some of the decor (like the darling $10 model ship or pair of buoys) were thrift store finds:

While others were things I made myself including.

I shot these photos on my trip up to Marin County (north of San Francisco) when I helped Kate (Centsational Girl) with her Alma house playroom. I still get all excited when I see myself on her blog!  Squeee!

There was this boat, abandoned in the middle of sea of iceplant, so I shot some pictures of it.
Who knew I would use them 2 years later in a baby's room?

I also found this great printable "You are my sunshine" print from ShoesOffPlease.  Since it is currently the one song that always makes the baby smile I used it.. I did have to photoshop it to turn it from a vertical to horizontal print.

I can't wait for my baby boy to grow up in this room!  I hope he loves it as much as I do!
