This year’s granddaddy of blogging conferences is going to be taking place in my own backyard and I couldn’t be more excited! BlogHer ‘14 is being held in San Jose/Silicon Valley which is less than 40 minutes from my house and so there was no way I could pass it up.
I have never attended the national BlogHer conference before, but I did attend BlogHerPRO last fall and had a great experience.
Unlike at BlogHerPro, there will be more than a few DIY bloggers at BlogHer 14. The big difference in the two conferences is the sheer size. The national BlogHer conference is HUGE. Attendees number in the thousands so there is something for everyone. Plus, since this is the 10th anniversary year, it is shaping up to be extra special.
There are some fantastic speakers lined up this year, including:
Keynote: Kerry Washington (from Scandal)
Jenny Lawson (a.k.a. The Bloggess)
Arianna Huffington (founder of The Huffington Post)
Tig Notaro (Stand Up Comic)It isn’t too late to register! For a limited time.. if you are from the greater Sacramento/San Francisco Bay Area you can get 25% off registration! That is a great deal!
If you are local and considering attending but don’t have someone to watch your kids, they are even making child care available! It is a great flexible option if you aren’t coming from out of town (or even if you are but you want to bring your kids with you.)
I am still considering whether or not I want to stay in one of the hotels or make the 40 minute drive every day. San Jose is a great town in the Bay Area, so it is really tempting to take a mini-vacation and stay within walking distance of the convention center, but I do love sleeping in my own bed..
I would love to hear if anyone else is planning on attending! I know for smaller conferences it is easy to run into fellow bloggers you 'know', but at a big conference like BlogHer you are never sure who you will meet.
And if you are local to the Bay Area and want to carpool.. drop me a line! I’d love to have some company.
