Crispy Onion Crusted Baked Chicken Tenders

I LOVE French's French Fried Onions.. Seriously, I could eat them straight out of a can, but most of the time I only use them "legitimately" when I make the typical green bean casserole that reminds me of Thanksgiving at grandma's house. So while I was perusing the back of the bag I was inspired to find a new use for them and thought: chicken tenders!  Something my kids will eat, no matter what.
I modified the French's recipe and it came out great!
Crispy Onion Crusted Baked Chicken Tenders

1 pound boneless/skinless chicken breasts (cut into strips)
3 Tbsp flour
1 egg (beaten)
4 oz (1 can/bag) french fried onions
1/2 tsp seasoning (I used Penzey's Cajun, but garlic powder or cayenne would work)

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Crush the onions and mix in seasoning in a shallow bowl

Coat the chicken in flour (I dredged it in a ziplock bag.)  Dip the flour-coated chicken in the beaten egg and then roll them in the crushed onions to coat.

Place on cookie sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes  until internal temperature reaches 165

Yum!

The best part is that the onions stay very crispy but the chicken is moist.  And although it is crusted in onion, the taste is not overwhelming at all.  In fact, my kids loved them.

Now I have *TWO* go-to recipes for french fried onions.. assuming I haven't eaten them straight out of the can before I can get to it.
